The sentence cut into the wood is sourced from the final scene of Wim Wenders’ 1975 film ‘The Wrong Move’. The film’s script is based upon Goethe’s novel ‘Wilhelm Meister’s Apprenticeship’, a novel that explores the in-built frustrations of the amateur and the limitations inherent with the dilettante. The final scene is shot with the lead protagonists’ back to the camera staring out from the Zugspitze mountain in Southern Germany.
