(An)other Method for Gathering Leaves

2016

A3 b/w Risograph (unlimited)

Your father clears his garden in the autumn by lifting each leaf into a bag; one gesture at a time / Demarcate a cluttered space / Bend your body to the angle of the garden / Dedicate a simple movement to retrieve a single leaf / Collect the leaves as if you were gathering strength / Bury the page with each leaf / Leave this work behind.

A small work developed as part of the Drive of Walking masterclass at the Jan Van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. The diagram is derived from the outline of my father’s garden in the video A Method for Gathering Leaves.  The risograph sheet (which can be orientated any way) invites participants to take (or not) and enact the work at a place of their choosing. The work was installed on a table in the garden at JVE as leaves were beginning to fall in September 2016.
