Slide Box

A bespoke slide box designed and constructed to house the forty-two stereoscopic slides. The design took inspiration from ad-hoc cardboard packaging that Charles used to contain his slide collection. The plywood box is divided into 2 compartments – Modern and Traditional (indicated by two insignias) depending on which slidescraper the stereograms were sourced from.

A small notch on the top of the box set into a Jencksiana symbol, allows the user to slide the lid open. On the reverse is a list giving details of each stereogram: the building, its location and a newly generated collection number. When the entry is aligned to a fixed marker, the exact slide can be accessed. The box is on long-term loan at The Cosmic House and can be viewed on request.
