Tremor of Forgery

A scene in the film ‘American Friend’ directed by Wim Wenders is re-enacted by the artist in his studio using fake gold leaf. The short sequence set in a Hamburg framers, was originally improvised on-set by the actor Bruno Ganz. In his 1998 work ‘L’Ellipse’ artist Pierre Huyghe casts Ganz in a jump-cut scene, set in Paris. Ganz’s 1998 walk crosses the Seine to connect with the original scenes in the 1977 original.
