The Polittante (part 2)

lithograph stack

51cm x 42cm

2012

The lithograph contains a page taken from Andre Gide’s novel ‘The Counterfeiters’. The novel is concerned with reflexive forms of writing and Mise-en-abyme; a literary device whereby text continually attempts to critique and reflect upon its own condition.

The central column photograph, alludes to Constantin Brancusi’s ‘Endless Column’ sculpture. The column in this instance aligning itself to the ‘column’ of the text and the stack of removable prints.
